Mixed Media Collage

Projects & Activities

Included in the Eiteljorg’s Contemporary Native American art collection is a mixed-media piece by Eiteljorg Fellow, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith (Confederated Salish and Kootenai Nation). Los Banderas de los Estados Unidos, 1996, was created using acrylic paint and torn or cut pieces of paper on canvas. Mixed media is as simple as that; multiple different materials used to create one piece of art. As long as you take two (or more!) different mediums or materials, you have created a mixed-media piece. Paint, crayon, colored pencils, watercolors, paper, fabric, glass, ribbons, yarn, wire, the combinations and possibilities are endless!
